She arrived in the United Kingdom in 2011 and has been working as an SAS doctor at Dartford since 2013. She has recently been appointed as a Specialist anaesthetist in April 2025 and now works as an autonomously practicing anaesthetist at Darent Valley Hospital.

Ashwini has a keen interest in teaching and training, especially novice anaesthetists, and is one of the organisers of the HEKSS novice courses, which include simulation. Her specialty interest is obstetric anaesthesia,  where multidisciplinary team management and human factors are of pivotal significance.

Ashwini joined the College's SAS Committee in 2018 and has been the Chair of the committee since 2021, representing the RCoA at the AoMRC and Association of Anaesthetists' SAS committees. She is one of Vice Chairs of the Portfolio Pathway Executive Committee at the College and responsible for the Development and Innovation Group. She is also the Vice Chair of the Membership, Media and development Board and member of the Education, Traning and Examinations Board. Through these roles, she is part of various workstreams that involve membership and supporting career progression for SAS and Locally employed doctors.

Ashwini has been the clinical content lead at the Winter Symposium in 2021, speaker at the Hong Kong ASM in 2022, and one of the clinical content leads for the annual Portfolio Pathway Assessors Day since 2023. She regularly writes blogs for the College website and articles for the Bulletin.  She has recorded podcasts on No trace =wrong place, a series for SAS doctors, International Women's Day alongside the Past President Dr Fiona Donald and recently, a series of mini podcasts intended to help portfolio pathway applicants. She has been a speaker at the 'New to NHS' day at the College and is an invited speaker at local and national events. She endeavours to support SAS and locally employed doctors in their career progression and has been part of many events that support the same.

Ashwini is married to an anaesthetist and in her spare time enjoys listening to music, painting and regional Indian dance.
